The agricultural sector employs over 25% of the world’s working population and is responsible for sustaining 7.5 billion people. Despite decades of efforts by governments and industry, more than a quarter of those people – a staggering 1.9 billion – remain moderately or severely food insecure, and roughly 820 million do not get enough to eat on a daily basis.
